About RAR

A podcast for pediatric dentists who aren't done growing.

RAR is a podcast that brings structure back to your professional growth. Through candid conversations, expert insights, and real-world guidance, you’ll explore:

Advanced topics focused on leadership, business acumen, and continued clinical growth after residency

The systems, decision-making tools, and leadership frameworks behind strong practices rather than one-size-fits-all formulas.

Stories and strategies from a community of pediatric dentists committed to accountability, continued growth, and raising the bar in their own pursuit of a better practice and life.

Your Hosts

Practitioners who've been there.

RAR is hosted by three pediatric dentists who know what it’s like to crave more and to build it. They’ve walked the path from clinical mastery to leadership, and now they’re creating the podcast they wish existed when they needed it most.

Craig Lustman DDS

Dr. Craig Lustman is a pediatric dentist and brand visionary who has built and led multiple dental brands, including Kids United, GROW, and Splash! He also founded Lalumwe, a nonprofit delivering water and food technology and resources to some of the poorest villages in Africa. A graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School and the pediatric residency program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Craig is an out-of-the-box thinker, a team builder, and a CEO who can’t stop thinking about how to deliver a better product (self-diagnosed ADHD, zero regrets). His favorite movie of all time is White Men Can’t Jump, and though he once dreamed of making the NBA (he even learned to dunk), he settled for plan B: counting baby teeth. He lives in South Florida and is also a sought-after motivational speaker, sharing the mindset behind his ventures with audiences looking to build something meaningful of their own.

Brian Martin DMD, MHCDS

Dr. Brian Martin is a pediatric dentist and healthcare executive who has been fortunate to hold a diverse portfolio of positions in his 25+ year career: Vice President of Population Health and Accountable Care Organization Medical Director for Akron Children’s Hospital; Vice President of Medical Affairs at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh; President of the Pennsylvania Pediatric Health Network; and finally Chief of Dentistry and Program Director at UPMC Children’s. He holds degrees from the Tuck School of Business and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College (MHCDS); the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (DMD) and residency in Pediatric Dentistry at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

He is a national lecturer on patient safety and pediatric sedation, and lives and breathes cross-pollination opportunities for pediatric dentistry across the healthcare landscape.

Ashley Heller DMD

Dr. Ashley Heller is a pediatric dentist, recovering control freak, and full-time translator of whatever Craig and Brian are trying to say. She chose pediatric dentistry for the connection—which, in practice, means gossiping with moms, getting Sephora intel from preteens, and finally having a job where her lack of volume control is an asset. Off the clock, she’s sending detailed voice notes, teaching Pilates when life allows, and attempting to raise a one-year-old somewhere in between. On Residency After Residency, she keeps things honest: think less perfect mom-wife-doctor energy, and more real daily struggles, real-life trade-offs, and real-time awareness of when the 5 AM workout class should absolutely be late-canceled. Her goal is to keep the conversation grounded, step in whenever the men start requiring subtitles, and poke holes in the polished version of having it all together. Because let’s be real here, she’s 100 percent still figuring it all out.
